The prestigious Spark of Genius competition will once again be run by Dublin Web Summit (DWS) in conjunction with ESB Electric Ireland. The competition focuses on Ireland’s most promising high potential startups. This year’s winners will be eligible for a support package valued at over €40,000 in cash and services.
As a result of entering the competition, previous winners, DataHug, have succeeded in further raising their international profile and are now firmly placed to receive investment. Company co-founder, Connor Murphy said, “Winning the Spark of Genius Award changed everything for DataHug.
“The award gave us a dream platform to introduce DataHug to a global audience of potential customers, media and technology investors. Within a few weeks we had hundreds of registered companies, coverage on TechCrunch, and several meetings with leading international venture capital firms.”
Ken McKervey, Commercial Manager, ESB Electric Ireland commenting on the sponsorship said, “At ESB Electric Ireland we are committed to embracing innovation and new technology to offer value and choice to our customers. We are delighted to be able to sponsor this inspiring initiative at a time when the technology sector can play a leading role in our economic recovery.”
This is the third year of the competition and the judges this year include Brian Caulfield of internationally-renowned venture capital firm DFJ Esprit, Shay Garvey of Delta Partners and Mark Roden of Ezetop.
Companies shortlisted as finalists will receive a day of mentoring before pitching at the final which will be held in front of the DWS audience on October 27th.
Applications for the ESB Electric Ireland Spark of Genius competition will open from June 10th which is the day of the next Dublin Web Summit being held at the RDS.
